The Midwest Book Review
“Dreams Around the World” is a beautifully photographed odyssey around the world exploring the treasured dreams of thirteen children from locations as diverse as Africa, Finland, Brazil, Russia, Mexico, and Poland. The author/photographer traveled from Japan to fifty five countries on six continents, interviewing over 1400 children to obtain the thirteen children chosen for “Dreams Around the World.” Written to appeal to children ages 4-8, “Dreams Around the World” shows a great variety of cultural outlooks, resulting in specific cherished goals and dreams of these children. Many children will recognize or perhaps discover dreams of their own here, to be a ballerina, a teacher, a gelato shop owner, a police officer, or a clown! Although continents and addresses may vary, something about all children's dreams is similar. For a wonderful opportunity to begin to imagine global ties and the joyous miracle of cultural diversity, “Dreams Around the World” is a perfect introduction to a common heritage of global awareness.
